Week 4
4-1
Create:
create a 3D space exploring a memory of yours from the last five years. Using the environmental design techniques we've learned so far: spatial sound, 3D objects, lights and shadows, movement, bring this memory to life for an audience who does not know you. What do you choose to include within this space? What do you choose to leave out? Try to move past literal representations of form (i.e. walls, floors, etc.) and capture the essence of your (imperfect) memory as you experience it today. Aim to create an experience that someone can explore for up to 2 minutes
At the end of the day, just before the cafe closes, we release all the steam from the coffee machine. The experience is truly unique, like being enveloped in clouds. As the steam rises and swirls around us, it blurs the boundaries of objects, transforming the familiar cafe into an otherworldly place. We feel as if we're traveling through a misty landscape, where the distinction between the ground and the sky is unclear. It's like driving on a winding mountain road, surrounded by dense fog.
In order to realize the scene, I learned the clock, how to use textures to create volumeless clouds, and the fog in the scene!
By using the unique characteristics of fog, I aim to create an experience where the boundaries of the surrounding space are obscured. By increasing the perceived volume of the scene, I can also prolong the process of exploration and discovery, encouraging users to explore and engage with the space.
