When it comes to the memorial hall, the established impression in mind will be a large exhibition hall displaying various historical materials, inscriptions, and the experience created by the use of space, lighting, and other elements.

    For example, when studying in the architecture department before, I was shocked when I first time read about the Jewish Museum in Germany. The layout of the routes and the metaphors that the building form narrated are complex and heavy but appropriately describe the oppressed situation of the Jews at that time. It also reminded me that when I went to the Nanjing Massacre Museum, some relics and historical documents were combined and presented with a strong sense of immersion.

    But after reading Maya Lin's work, I feel it is presented in a very poetic and soft way. Maya Lin's design is more amiable than those weighty expressions museum. Let the park retain its original function, allowing historical events and the natural environment to stay peacefully together. To me, this design feels more like artwork; instead of forcing individuals to enter a closed space, it is easier for the audience to choose whether they want to continue reading, feeling, or leaving.
