Week 14
14-1
Solar project
After completing the solar project, I became fascinated by the metaphor of photosynthesis and the potential for renewable energy sources. During the project, I discovered that it was feasible to use the solar panels provided in the class to run the breath light. For my final project, I plan to experiment with using a smaller number of solar panels and explore more elegant ways to combine them. By optimizing the solar panels' arrangement, I hope to enhance the system's efficiency and reduce the overall energy consumption. Through this project, I aim to explore the possibilities of renewable energy and inspire others to pursue sustainable practices.
Week 14
14-2
Final project
Solar Bloom
an installation powered by the solar energy, evoking the delicate beauty between nature's energy and blooming flowers.
Description
The Solar Bloom is an art installation that showcases the poetic relationship between the sun's energy and the process of photosynthesis in plants. Its flower-like form is powered by solar power, creating a mesmerizing display of light.
The Solar Bloom serves as a reminder of the importance of sustainable energy sources, invites us to appreciate the natural beauty around us, and celebrate our interconnectedness with all living things.
- Breath Light Version
In this version, I've added an Attiny engineering board to run the breath light code. However, this has led to an increase in the overall energy consumption. To ensure that the system generates enough power, I used more solar panels (8 pieces).
Overall, the system works perfectly, but it's important to note that it relies on sunlight to function. Therefore, it's necessary to place it in a location where there's ample sunlight passing through a window.
- Directly Light Version
In this simpler version, I utilized the power generated from the four solar panels directly to light up the LED. Since the LED does not require a high amount of current, this setup was sufficient. Additionally, it's worth noting that the LED can also be lit up by the ambient light in the room or by a lamp.
Overall, this setup is relatively straightforward and can be easily implemented without much technical expertise. However, it's crucial to add a resistor to the circuit to prevent the LED from getting too much power, which can cause it to burn out. By adding a resistor, you can regulate the flow of current to the LED and prevent any damage.

Reflection:
This project mainly uses the metaphor of photosynthesis to transform the indoor light (energy) we are accustomed to into a visible reaction. Make people more aware of the energy in their lives.
Moreover, this project can also serve as a reminder of the importance of sustainable energy practices. The project's use of the photosynthesis metaphor also highlights the significance of energy conversion and conservation in both natural and man-made systems. By raising awareness about energy consumption and promoting sustainable practices, this project can contribute to a more environmentally conscious society.
